Team RANS rides again

Race Across America is a unique cycling endurance event - unique in its openness to all types of riders - open to a wide range of ages, open to men and women and open to solo and team riders, and especially open to recumbent and upright bikes.  The race  runs from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD covering over 3,000 miles (5,000 kms) and climbing over 100,000 feet (over 35,000 metres).

In 2008,  the members of Team Velokraft (Glenn Druery and Tim Woudenberg) came together to form the kernel of a new team planning to ride RANS recumbents. In February, Glenn Druery had to withdraw because of the knee injury that forced him out of RAAM 2007 and the team was disbanded.  In 2009 the team was back together and are on the road. Team members are Glenn Druery, Tim Woudenberg, Karta Atehotua and Rick Ashabranner. The new members are no strangers to RAAM - Rick rode solo in 2003 and Karta rode in 2005. With such expereince, the team is targeting the 4-man recumbent record and would be giving the upright bikes a run for their money.

We look forward to another great race in 2009.
